Join me as I fight cancer!

My mission is to find a cure and survivorship for those dealing with cancer. Most recently losing an inspirationall friend in my life to this ugly horrible disease I am going to fight harder and stronger to find a cure. I have a huge fund raising goal this year and I know I will meet it. My goal will help with patient support, research and most importantly being the hidden angel behind the scene to help support those who are fighting to survive.

This is a passion of mine because I lost my uncle to pancreatic cancer two years ago, and I was not able to help him fight. The 24 hours of Indianapolis ride is a way for me to give back to those that cannot fight and help raise money for research to one day find a cure for cancer. Every pedal stroke is a way for me to fight back against cancer.

This impacts the community by allowing bike riders to take their passion and use it to help those in need.  24 hours of Indianapolis raises awareness and impacts local lives. I am not a shy person, but in this case, I enjoy working behind the scenes because the real heroes are the individuals fighting cancer. I am like a silent angel helping them in time of need.

This summer, I will participate in 24 Hours of Indianapolis, a 24-hour cycling event that raises money for the IU Simon Cancer Center and LIVESTRONG Foundation. You probably think I’m crazy for committing to an event with “booty” in the title, but we’re going to have a great time while working together to beat cancer!

People should know that with each of these events there is a thirst for a cancer-free world.  The camaraderie at the event is intense because we’re all riding for the same cause, and it’s great to see individuals from different backgrounds come together. You don’t have to be an avid bike rider to ride in this event. If you own a bike, come on out, and we will all ride together to put an end to cancer. I have met so many amazing individuals that have gotten me involved with other local charity events. This year, I was asked to coach a cycling team for the Leukemia Society for their 100-mile bike ride in Lake Tahoe. With each ride I do, I’m learning so much about my abilities, charities and how I can give back.

24 Hours of Indianapolis is a proud local partner of the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center. The IU Simon Cancer Center is a patient care, research and educational organization within the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Nationally, 24 Foundation is a proud partner of the LIVESTRONG Foundation, which believes that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. The LIVESTRONG Foundation assists cancer patients and their families with insurance challenges, treatment concerns, emotional support, fertility preservation and clinical trials, all at no cost.
